There is a choice of accommodation ranging from superior rooms, family rooms, double rooms, twin and single occupancy rooms. All rooms are en suite, and are tastefully furnished, clean and comfortable. All rooms have colour television, clock-radios, hairdryers, central heating, tea / coffee-making facilities, direct dial telephones with Internet access point and a few extra touches that make all the difference. The Fernbank restaurant, led by our Head Chef, Carl Holton, is very popular with local residents and guests alike. Its menu is concentrated on local produce which is delivered daily and always freshly prepared on site for our guests’ delight. Chef’s dishes are complemented by an outstanding selection of wines from around the world. A sunlit Sunday lunch, a romantic dinner or just the enjoyment of the company of friends; the Restaurant is the perfect place to dine, with large windows overlooking the landscaped garden and the beautiful S Martin's Downs. There is no better place to relax and unwind. With so much delicious food, it is always a good idea to burn off a few calories: the hotel's heated pool is an ideal place to do this. Following your swim, why not enjoy catching up with that day's paper around the pool's edge. For the ultimate in relaxation, the Jacuzzi hot tub‡† and sauna‡† are adjacent to the pool room. By prior arrangement, aromatherapy massage is also available. Adjacent to the bar is the hotel's lounge: an ideal place to sit and watch television, catch up with a newspaper or select a book from our guests' library. With so much sunshine in Shanklin, the hotel's landscaped garden provides an excellent place to relax and enjoy a drink. At certain times in the summer, we hold outdoor barbeques: an excellent time to enjoy an informal and relaxed meal in the early evening.

Property Location

The hotel is ideally located within the attractive 'old Village' of Shanklin - ideal for the seafront and the countryside. Known to the Romans as Vectis, the Isle of Wight is only 2 hours south of London, lying just off the centre of southern England, off the south coast. It is a diamond shape, 13 miles north to south and 23 miles east to west and totals approximately 147 square miles, with 57 miles of coast. It is serviced by frequent ferry crossings from Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton. The island, which is the UK's smallest county, has many notable points of interest including, to the west, The Needles, a rock formation extending into the sea and Alum Bay an area featuring different coloured sands. At the north end of the island is Cowes, the sailing resort that features the world-famous Cowes Week. There are numerous historical buildings on the island from Roman remains through Tudor castles to Classical and Victorian mansions. Approximately half of the island is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is known as the Garden Isle. Within its boundaries, the Isle of Wight contains a wide variety of landscapes from sheltered river valleys to wild, wind-swept headlands; from long golden sandy beaches to forests, picturesque villages and market towns. The Isle of Wight has a wide ranging holiday appeal, especially due to its favourable climate and long sunshine hours: it is consistently warmer and sunnier than the English mainland, with sub-tropical plants growing in sheltered south facing gardens.
